ABOUT US

The Lower Valley Chapter of SHRM (LVC) is a non-profit organization committed to advancing the human resource management profession in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, including Harlingen, Brownsville, and South Padre Island. As a local affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) the foremost authority in Human Resource. LVC serves as a vital resource for HR professionals across the region.

LVC has been recognized for its outstanding service and leadership with the SHRM Excel Gold Award in 2022 and the Excel Platinum Award in both 2023 and 2024.

Our mission is to be the driving force behind the HR profession by promoting its strategic importance to organizational success. We are dedicated to developing HR professionals through networking, education, and community involvement, empowering our members to make meaningful contributions to their organizations and the communities they serve


Our Mission & Objectives

Lower Valley Chapter’s mission is to promote professionalism, effectiveness, and understanding in the Human Resource Management field by offering members a wide variety of professional development opportunities and a common forum for sharing ideas and experiences. LVC serves its members by:

  • Providing a range of educational programming and activities that allow members to develop their expertise in the functional areas of Human Resource Management;
  • Fostering increased awareness and understanding of the Human Resource profession throughout the business community and the general public;
  • Encouraging the highest standards of integrity through our Code of Ethics;
  • Providing a regular forum for members to meet and exchange information in addressing current human resource issues.

Our SHRM Affiliation

The Lower Valley Chapter of SHRM #313 (LVC-SHRM) is an affiliated chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, SHRM, which is a nationally and globally force behind the Human Resource Management efforts. National SHRM membership, however, is separate from LVC membership. Eligible individuals may become members of LVC-SHRM upon submission of a completed application with the prescribed dues and approval by the Membership Committee. LVC-SHRM memberships are extended on an individual basis and are not transferable.
